Manchester United center-back Eric Bailly spoke about his close relationship with his teammates.
The Ivory Coast international is having a good week at Old Trafford after making a key block against Aston Villa last Friday. Bailly was fundamental for securing Manchester United’s win which sent them to the joint-top of the Premier League.
After the final whistle, the squad rushed to congratulate the 26-year-old on his wonderful performance. It is clear that the players have grown more and more united this season, something that delights both fans and Eric Bailly.
“In this team, we are like a family,”
he told the club. “Like all of the people are friends, like brothers. Manchester is one family and I’m very happy with my team-mates to do this for me because they know the moment I had before. They are happy for me to come back to the team and that is why I try to help.
“
Bailly also spoke about the importance of celebrating a win all together, which sends out a positive message.
“You know when the game is finished, the players who didn’t play the game, but were on the bench, came onto the pitch to celebrate the three points. That is the mentality we want. For me, for the team, for all the players in Manchester, it is very important to keep this mentality.”
Bailly missed 71 matches at Manchester due to various injuries.
Although the defender’s return to first-team action has been going great so far, he believes it’s important to remain humble and continue working hard.
“Now you need to make your head calm, train and keep going, getting ready to help the team. That’s my first mission and I hope I don’t get injured again, you know. The injuries are very difficult for players when they have the good form.
“Before I’d had moments, difficult moments, but now I’ve come back into the team. I am feeling good, training well and yeah I’ll be ready to help the team. I am fit and I want to play.”
