Tottenham Hotspur have tabled an official bid for the Torino talisman Andrea Belotti, reports in Italy confirm.
Belotti enjoyed a stellar season at Torino, notching 22 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions to finish the season as the club’s top scorer.
Arguably one of the most prolific Italian strikers, alongside Ciro Immobile, the 26-year-old has a host of admirers across Europe.
While AC Milan and Atletico Madrid withdrew their interest that was pretty intense last summer, new opportunities have arisen.
As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham have approached Torino with an idea of taking Belotti on loan with an option to buy for €50million next summer.
The news of Spurs’ bid for the Maroons captain came in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s statement that the club must sign a new striker this summer.
The Portuguese boss wants a proven goalscorer to partner Harry Kane in the final third. He also looks for someone not afraid to compete with one of the best forwards in modern football.
Although Belotti fits the profile, Torino nonchalantly turned down Tottenham’s offer. Urbano Cairo is reluctant to cut loose his headline performer unless a lucrative offer comes to his desk.
In addition to Belotti, the London outfit are also keeping close tabs on Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.
The 28-year-old will be easier to get to considering the Cherries suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Wilson himself has admitted that he would like to continue playing in the English top-flight not long after seeing his side join the Championship.
