The Three Lions skipper is a doubt for the next match after supplying two assists against Iran in the World Cup opener.

Harry Kane will undergo a scan on his ankle ahead of England’s next World Cup against the United States in Group B on Friday.

The 29-year-old striker required treatment during the 6-2 World Cup win over Iran on Monday after a big challenge from Morteza Pouraliganji, just three minutes into the second half.

Kane carried on until the 75th minute before Newcastle forward Callum Wilson substituted him. He was later seen limping while leaving the stadium, with his right ankle strapped.

Ankle problems in the past caused the Tottenham star to miss 14 games during the 2016/17 campaign and four matches last season.

Kane, who is just two goals shy of Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 England goals, made two assists in England’s 6-2 opening game win over Iran in the World Cup.
