A heavy defeat at Wembley saw Gareth Southgate’s side remain winless in the tournament.

Hungary defeated England 4-0 in their UEFA Nations League game on Tuesday. A brilliant performance from Hungary registered their first win over the Three Lions since 1953.

Hungary top the Group of Death table!

England struggled to find their rhythm early on, while Hungary pushed for an early breakthrough. The guests got exactly what they were looking for in the 16th minute.

Roland Sallai opened the scoring for Hungary with a precise shot inside the box. England immediately started their efforts to get back into the game, pushing the guests back into their own half.

However, the Three Lions failed to create enough serious chances. After the interval, Southgate’s side looked even worse as Hungary’s counter-attacks got more dangerous.

Sallai completed his brace by doubling Hungary’s lead. Only ten minutes later, Zsolt Nagy scored his side’s third goal with a fantastic shot from the edge of the box.

Hungary kept on attacking England’s shattered defence despite being 3-0 ahead. John Stones received a red card before Daniel Gazdag completed England’s humiliating defeat in the 89th minute.

A precise through ball from Nagy found the Philadelphia Union star, who defeated Aaron Ramsdale in a one-on-one situation to make it 4-0 for the guests.

The defeat keeps England in the fourth spot on the Group A3 table, while Hungary moves ahead of Germany and Italy to reach the top of the ‘Group of Death’ table.
