The 20-year-old has impressed greatly in midfield to help steer Arsenal to back-to-back victories in the Premier League.

Emile Smith Rowe is delighted with his new opportunities after starting in each of Arsenal’s victories over Chelsea and Brighton in the Premier League.

The former England U-20 international has featured sparingly in the first-team over the last few seasons, splitting his time between games for the youth teams and going on loan to RB Leipzig and Huddersfield Town.

But Mikel Arteta took a chance on Smith Rowe in what were two must-win games these last few days, and the youngster justified the manager’s faith by impressing in each of them.

“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Smith Rowe told the club’s website.

“It’s a dream for me to play for this club. I’m so happy and grateful that the manager’s shown faith in me and given me the chance.

“I’ve just got to keep training hard, and then when I get the opportunity I’ve got to take it.”

Smith Rowe had a difficult opening period at Brighton on Tuesday, mainly for a lack of space. But he grew into the game, especially during the second half, to help the Gunners claim a crucial 1-0 victory.

“Mikel told us the game would open up in the second half so we just tried to keep the belief,” continued Smith Rowe.

“The confidence and you could see we started to create more chances,”

“Laca [Alexandre Lacazette] got the goal that helped us.”
