Emerson Palmieri has hinted at his frustration due to the lack of competitive action at Chelsea while away on international duty.

Chelsea reportedly made some unsuccessful attempts in the summer transfer window at offloading Emerson Palmieri, who was understood to be of interest to Inter Milan.

The Blues intended to cash in on the defender who failed to establish himself as a first-team regular after completing a €20 million move from Roma in January 2018.

Marcos Alonso has been the preferred choice for left-back in the last couple of seasons, and the arrival of Ben Chilwell this summer has further hindered Palmieri’s chances of making it into the Chelsea line-up.

The Italian, however, remains a regular in his national team and featured for the full 90 minutes in his side’s Nations League fixture on Sunday.

“When I arrive here I change my head. I feel important and part of the group,” Emerson spoke out after Italy’s stalemate against Poland, via Goal.

“At Chelsea, things are not going as I wish in this part of the season. I just have to work.”

“When you play for the national team, you always have to be ready. When I play with this shirt I have to give my best.”
