Eintracht returned to winning ways after back-to-back defeats to crush Bayern on home soil.
Bayer Munich lost 5-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt in their Bundesliga game on Saturday. A defensive horror show from Bayern ensured their first defeat of the season at Deutsche Bank Park.
What happened?
Eintracht took control of the game early on as Bayern struggled to find their feet in the game. Omar Marmoush put the hosts ahead with a clever finish after a poor clearance from Noussair Mazraoui inside the box.
Bayern pushed for a quick response but missed chances from Kingsley Coman and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gave Eintracht enough time to snatch their second goal of the night. This time, an error from Kim Min-jae resulted in Eintracht’s quick attack from the left-hand side of the pitch.
Junior Dina Ebimbe made it 2-0 with a powerful finish before Bayern’s nightmare continued with another goal from Hugo Larsson just five minutes later. Joshua Kimmich’s spectacular goal in the 44th minute kept Bayern’s hopes alive for the second period. But things got even worse for the Bavarians after the break.
Only five minutes after the game’s restart, Ebimbe completed his brace after Dayot Upamecano’s mistake initiated another quick counter-attack from the hosts.
Bayern’s misery was completed with another brace from Omar Marmoush when the Egypt international’s through ball was converted by Ansgar Knauff just before the hour-mark.
Bayern had another 30 minutes to (at least) score a few redeeming goals, but their uninspiring display barely led to any serious attacks.
Eintracht vs Bayern Munich: Man of the Match
Marmoush made an incredible display for Eintracht as they crushed Bayern Munich in a home game. The Egyptian forward registered a goal and two assists while putting constant pressure on Bayern’s backline through his quick runs.
