Zinedine Zidane’s men closed the gap from rivals and league leaders Atletico Madrid following a convincing win on Sunday.
Karim Benzema continued his goalscoring streak while Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez also contributed to Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Eibar in La Liga.
It just six minutes for the defending champions to go ahead in the match as Benzema, after chasing Rodrygo’s exquisite lofted through ball, slotted past the diving goalkeeper.
The Frenchman turned provider for his side’s second goal as he ran past the opposition defence before cutting the ball back to Modric who fired it into the roof of the net.
Benzema recorded his second assist of the night by setting up Vazquez in the dying minutes, with the latter scoring from a tight angle following a neat one-two with the former.
Eibar caused a few problems for the visitors in the first half and in the second one but, in the end, the only real harm they could inflict was not letting Thibaut Courtois walk away with a clean sheet.
Real Madrid jump to second in the La Liga standings, level on points with Atletico Madrid at 29.
