The Portuguese head coach is among the candidates to take over Man United as interim boss.

Having sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last week, Manchester United are now officially in the market for a new manager.

The Red Devils are planning to hire an interim boss before signing their new permanent coach in the summer. They are close to finalizing a six-month contract with Ralf Rangnick, but nothing is official yet.

Federico Valverde, Lucien Favre, Rudi Garcia, and Carlos Queiroz are reportedly the other candidates on the club’s list. Last week, Man United legend Rio Ferdinand tipped the club to sign Queiroz as interim boss on his YouTube podcast.

Quieroz, who currently works as Egypt’s boss, reacted to the Man United rumours in a press conference.

“I’m not here to answer personal matters, I’m here to talk about the national team,” he said.

He added: “You may shoot yourself if you believe all the news on social media. God has given us two ears and a mouth, but there are those who have more than that,

“I’m very lucky, when I walk in the street, I find the fans thanking me for what we did and qualifying for the final stage, but I have not met anyone who criticizes the team’s performance yet.”

Man United will play their second game under Michael Carrick against Chelsea on Sunday. The Red Devils hope to have Rangnick before their next league game against Arsenal.
