The Egyptian giants missed out on the title after a defeat against Wydad AC in the final.
Egypt manager Ehab Galal has insisted Al Ahly players are strong enough to bounce back from their defeat in the Champions League final.
A 2-0 defeat against Moroccan side Wydad prevented the Eagles from claiming their 11th CL title. After the game, seven Al Ahly players joined the Egyptian national team for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Galal believes the defeat won’t affect the players’ performance for the Pharaohs.
“Ahly players are experienced enough to overcome the CAF Champions League title loss,” the Egypt boss said (via Ahram Online).
“We will support them psychologically and motivate them to learn the importance of the current situation and they have to compensate with the national team and Ahly as well.”
Egypt will compete against Ethiopia, Guinea, and Malawi in Group D of the qualifiers. The Pharaohs must host Guinea in their first group-stage game on Sunday before meeting Ethiopia four days later.
Galal added: “We prepare for Guinea clash first then we will work on Ethiopia and Korea games.
“We need to introduce a good performance with the national team and after the first game we may call-up some players from the league.”
