When it comes to covering smaller leagues and clubs in football gaming, you could say eFootball is a bit behind their EA Sports rival. Most established Kenyan players either play for South African teams or smaller clubs in England and Belgium.

The game has nevertheless listed two Kenyan players in its newest addition. Let’s take a look at their ratings and abilities.

Michael Olunga

Olunga kick-started his career in European football by joining Swedish side Djurgarden in 2016. After a short loan spell, the Kenyan joined Girona, but his best form came after he left Europe to play for Kashiwa Reysol in J-League.

He immediately established himself as a crucial player for Reysol, winning the league’s top-scorer and best player awards in his first season. However, in January 2021, the club sold Olunga to Qatari side Al Duhail on a €6 million fee.

The Kenyan star has scored 21 goals in his 18 league appearances for the Red Knights as they sit second in Qatar Stars League.

Olunga is the kind of striker that can move through defensive lines with his great physicality. In addition to his impressive shot-power and precision, the 27-year-old’s dribbling can be helpful if you decide to use him outside his natural central attacking role.

Ayub Masika started his career by breaking through the academy ranks of Belgian side Genk. He went on to play for a few Chinese Super League sides before returning to Europe to play for Reading in the English Championship.

However, he stayed for only six months at the club and left as a free agent in August 2021. After a few months of being out of work, the left-winger eventually joined Buriram United in Taiwan. He has established himself as a regular player for the Thunder Castle, who currently lead the Thai Premier League.

In addition to his main role as a left-winger, you can play Masika both as a central or a left midfielder. The 29-year-old’s attacking attributes might be slightly lower than your average attacker. However, his combination of physicality and dribbling can be useful if you are looking to provide your target striker with a lot of cutbacks.
