It’s been a busy summer for Arsenal with five new players heading over to north London.

Arsenal technical director Edu has hinted at making more signings this summer, insisting the Gunners are ‘prepared for every situation’.

Mikel Arteta’s side have welcomed five new players in the current transfer window. They’ve recruited Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, FC Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, Sao Paulo winger Marquinhos, and New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner.

With just over a week until Arsenal visit Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener, however, Edu refuses to rule out a sixth transfer.

“I think we have to be prepared for every situation,” he told Sky Sports.

“We still feel the transfer window is open and the most important thing is to be prepared for everything, every scenario because opportunities can happen.

“Clubs can approach us. Players probably want to go on loan, so there’s still lots to do, but again, being prepared for me is the most important [thing] and for sure we are very much prepared for almost everything.”

Has no Champions League been a problem?

Despite a late-season collapse causing Arsenal to miss out on a top-four Premier League finish in 2021/22, they remain an attractive prospect for many talented players.

“[We signed] almost 100 percent of them,” Edu revealed.

“I understand sometimes players want to play Champions League football. But I think we can offer something very special for the players as well.

“It’s not only Champions League, but you can be part of a group of players which can achieve something very special for this football club. And then I always ask them if they want to be part of the project we’ve been building.

“I’m sure we will do something very special for this football club and then when I explain to the players, they really understand [it] and that’s why they’re here.”

Arsenal next face Sevilla this Saturday for the Emirates Cup final after concluding their US pre-season tour.
