During his farewell interview with the club, Edinson Cavani chose CR7 as his pick for the club’s player of the season.
Cristiano Ronaldo was Manchester United’s best player for the 2021/22 campaign, according to Edinson Cavani.
Cavani, who scored twice in an injury-hit final season at Old Trafford, rates Ronaldo as the club’s most consistent performer after the Portuguese ace smashed home 24 goals in all competitions.
“I think that the standout player for us this season, and someone who did show a little bit more consistency, playing well regularly and always being there for us, has been Cristiano,” Cavani told MUTV in his farewell interview.
“I think that, apart from having a short period when he wasn’t getting on the scoresheet, which can happen when you are a striker, Cristiano was probably our one player who showed the most consistency.”

De Gea gets a special mention
Aside from Ronaldo, Cavani also praised goalkeeper David de Gea for his performance during a difficult campaign.
“He [De Gea] has also been one of the most consistent performers in the squad, so together, they have been the most consistent and best players in the squad from our season this time around,” the Uruguayan forward added.
Manchester United finished sixth in the Premier League last season, 35 points behind champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils will begin pre-season training for the 2022/23 campaign with non-national team players on June 24.
