The 32-year-old winger is a free agent after ending an injury-barren spell at Real Madrid earlier this month.

Eden Hazard, the football superstar who recently played for Real Madrid, has joked that he has been “resting for three years” due to his injury-prone career, but insisted he has no plans of leaving football altogether.

Hazard left Madrid this month by mutual consent after his contract was terminated, a year earlier than planned. He announced his retirement from international football for the Belgian national team after the 2022 World Cup.

That said, Hazard still feels capable of being a professional footballer, telling RTBF: “I’ve been resting for two or three years, so I still have a bit of energy!”

Last season, Hazard only made six LaLiga appearances, two of which were starts, without scoring a single goal. This sums up his disappointing four-year career in Madrid after joining the club from Chelsea in 2019. However, even in spite of that, he remains determined to continue playing football.

“I don’t like watching games. It’s frustrating as a player, you always want to help,” Hazard said. “I still don’t know anything about my future, honestly. After three difficult years, I just want to spend time with my family, go on holiday, like anyone else … I’ve read a lot of things in the last few days, a lot of nonsense. I still don’t know. We’ll see.”
