Hazard turned down a move to a Premier League club despite Real Madrid accepting a £41.3m bid.

Eden Hazard has turned down a return to the Premier League after being subject to a £41.3m bid by Newcastle United on Monday.

Hazard has found himself fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid, and has been rumoured to be on the chopping block this transfer window.

The Belgian has endured a nightmare spell with Los Blancos since making a big-money move from Chelsea in 2019. He has made just 59 appearances for the club, scoring just five goals, and providing 10 assists.

And according to El Nacional, Newcastle submitted an offer for the 31-year-old which was reportedly accepted by Madrid. But Hazard rejected the bid, wanting to join a “big player” and does not consider the Magpies as a viable option.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez revealed back in November that Hazard was “sad” due to his lack of playing time at Madrid.

Martinez told COPE’s show El Partidazo (as per the Metro): “Hazard is medically in his best moment since he arrived at Real Madrid.

“He is sad in football terms, this is the first time that he is experiencing this situation.

“He is a player who has always led winning projects and now he doesn’t have that role, but he is a footballer of exceptional talent and that is never lost, you have to have faith in him.”
