The Black and Yellows are determined to keep one of their key defenders despite interest from abroad.

Borussia Dortmund have dismissed reports linking Thomas Meunier with moves to Barcelona and Manchester United.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender is yet to find his place in Edin Terzic’s plans.

Several German sources have claimed he informed Dortmund of his intention to leave the club after their 3-2 defeat against Werder Bremen last week.

In addition to Man Utd, Barcelona emerged as potential suitors for Meunier as they reportedly hoped to swap him with Sergino Dest.

However, Sebastian Kehl has confirmed Dortmund have no interest in selling the 30-year-old.

“The transfer window is still open until next week. But we have no intention of selling Thomas Meunier,” the Dortmund director said.

“There will be another wild ride from Monday onwards. But I refer that overall to the market. Currently it is absolutely not our plan to sell him.”

Dortmund signed Antony Modeste as a replacement for Sebastian Haller, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this summer.

Modeste has failed to live up to expectations in his first displays for Dortmund. But Kehl believes the striker needs more time to integrate into his new team.

“Tony Modeste has been with Borussia Dortmund for a fortnight. It’s a change for him,” Kehl added.

“In the end, he will be measured by goals, we know that. But I would ask for a little patience and that he not be dubbed a ‘flop transfer’.”
