Signal Iduna Park was the place where Man City visited Borussia Dortmund in the UCL quarterfinals. We have the player ratings.

When the season started for Man City, they never imagined they would have to defeat Borussia Dortmund in order to get to the Champions League semifinals. Pep Guardiola had this stage as a target this season and the top priority is to win the title. They already completed the first step after beating Borussia Dortmund with a convincing win at Etihad Stadium. But today, they needed to confirm their status as one of the tournament’s favorites at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

The Citizens had a tremendous challenge ahead of them with one of the squads with the biggest pools of talent in European football right now. They not only had Erling Haaland inside the starting eleven. Not having Jadon Sancho gave Jude Bellingham the chance he was looking for. The teenager scored the opener against City and became the youngest Englishman to score a Champions League goal, ever.

Pep’s boys respond in style.

Despite all the action from both sides during the first half, we didn’t see more goals from either squad until the second half. With this one-goal advantage from Dortmund, they were getting their semifinal ticket. But Manchester City has been getting good results in the second half of all matches they play. After a penalty was awarded for the Citizens, Riyad Mahrez scored the equalizer but there was still hope for Dortmund until the end.

One more goal would send the game to extra time. The problem here is that City dominated most of the chances during the second half and the goal was bound to come. It happened during a set piece where Bernardo assisted Phil Foden for the goal. With this result, City gets to the semifinals against PSG and keeps the quadruple dreams alive.
