Chelsea will go into the second leg on a one-goal disadvantage.

Borussia Dortmund defeated Chelsea 1-0 in their Champions League game on Wednesday. A fantastic goal from Karim Adeyemi was enough to secure the hosts’ victory.

Dortmund continue winning run

The Black and Yellows have maintained a perfect record since returning from the World Cup, winning six consecutive games.

Their confident start against Chelsea showed they were eager to use their home advantage. However, Edin Terzic’s men rarely found any serious goalscoring chances.

Chelsea, on the other hand, came close to breaking the deadlock twice. Joao Felix hit the crossbar after a quick counterattack toward the end of the first period.

Dortmund started off as the better side after the break, gradually increasing the pressure on Chelsea’s backline. Following a quick counter-attack, the Black and Yellows made it 1-0 through Karim Adeyemi.

The German star made a brilliant run from the middle of the pitch all the way into Chelsea’s box. He then dribbled past Enzo Fernandez and Kepa Arizabalaga before completing his stunning move with a precise shot.

The goal forced Chelsea to attack more fiercely while Dortmund remained in their own half.

The Blues saw Emre Can clear Kalidou Koulibaly’s shot off the line as they missed their best chance to score in the second period. Felix made another attempt to score the equalizer, but Gregory Kobel denied him with a routine save.

Dortmund secured the narrow victory by holding on to their solid defence toward the end. The two sides will meet again in their second-leg clash on March 3.
