The Real Madrid goalkeeper displayed an outstanding performance as the Blancos celebrated their 14th UCL title.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has praised Thibaut Courtois for his saves during the Champions League final.

The Belgian keeper became the Man of the Match after Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Stade de France. He made several saves to prevent Liverpool from coming back into the game after Vinicius Junior’s opener.

Courtois was also a key player for the Blancos in their run to win the La Liga last season. According to FBref, 29-year-old made 16 clean sheets, saving 76.7% of the shots on his target.

“I saw the match and he played an incredible match, he kept Real Madrid standing until the end,” Donnarumma told a press conference.

“It made me feel a bit like we could have been there, but unfortunately football is like that. They won and I congratulate Courtois, he made great interventions.”

Donnarumma left AC Milan last summer to continue his career at Paris Saint-Germain. The Rossoneri clinched their first Serie A title in 11 years this season, but the Italy international says he doesn’t regret leaving San Siro.

“After winning the title, the perfect year was the Scudetto of Milan and I congratulate them. They did an incredible job and I’m proud of them,” he added.

“I have no regret, I’m happy with what Milan have done and I wrote to all my team-mates to congratulate them.”
