Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has beaten Eduoard Mendy to become the best goalkeeper in Europe.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has landed the 2021 Yashin Trophy ahead of Edouard Mendy for the best goalkeeper of the year in Europe.

Since making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2015 for AC Milan, the Italian stopper rose to power during the recent years.

The 22-year-old joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after his heroics with his national team to lift the Euro 2020 silverware.

Now, Donnarumma becomes the second player after Liverpool’s Alisson to win the Yashin Trophy. The Brazilian won the inaugural prize in 2019 before the event was terminated in 2020 due to the pandemic.

The young goal stopper has also been a major part of the Ballon d’Or list this season, with 15 clean sheets in 48 appearances for Milan last campaign. He also helped Rossoneri land second place in Serie A last season.

Donnarumma’s excellent international campaign for Roberto Mancini’s side, especially the two penalty saves against England in the shootout were the best highlights of his reign so far.
