The English defender’s side have emerged as strong title contenders this season, and he believes they can go all the way and win it.

Tottenham are currently on a long trophy drought, with their last piece of silverware coming in the 2007/08 season in the shape of the League Cup.

The Lillywhites came very close to breaking that curse last season as they made it up to the Champions League finals, but ended up losing to Liverpool.

Jose Mourinho, a serial winner, was appointed last season as Mauricio Pochettino’s five-year stint ended with the club keen on establishing themselves as title challengers.

Mourinho appears to be well on track to deliver on the expectations as Spurs, after 20 points collected from nine matches, currently sit second in the Premier League table with a game in hand against leaders Liverpool.

Eric Dier asserts that the Spurs team has had substantial growth under the Portuguese manager as he suggests his boss is more than capable of ending their 12-year trophy drought.

“I’d say this team is probably more pragmatic. I think we’re all a bit older, a bit more mature, we’ve all seen a bit more, and we’re ready to do different things compared to when you’re younger,” Dier told Sky Sports.

“Mourinho is definitely putting his stamp on the club, on the team and the players individually. He’s definitely implementing the things he wants to see.

“It definitely feels like we’re building something new, I feel like the foundations are there, and it’s up to us to make it what we want it to be.”
