Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone believes Haaland and Mbappe are compatible enough to play together.
Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are the two hottest young stars in the world of football right now. Their ambitions, talent, and focus have left many believing they are on the right track to becoming Ronaldo and Messi’s successors.
Despite what might happen in the future, the young players managed to steal the spotlight out of the Ballon D’Or winners. This week, Ronaldo and Messi failed to score in the Champions League’s Round of 16. On the other hand, Haaland and Mbappe shone bright in the competition and even earned themselves a nomination for Player of the Week.
Borussia Dortmund’s task to defeat Sevilla got a little easier as Haaland scored twice last Tuesday. The Norwegian led the Yellow and Blacks to a 3-2 win away from home. Haaland gave some Ronaldo vs Messi in La Liga vibes as he confessed Mbappe had inspired him with his performance. In fact, the Frenchman scored a terrific hat-trick against Barcelona and won the award for the best player of the round.
Diego Simeone praised the young footballers.
Ahead of Atletico Madrid’s next fixture, Simeone was asked to comment on the players’ performance in the UCL. Naturally, the Argentinian manager was impressed with both Haaland and Mbappe. Moreover, Simeone stated he would like to see them playing together in the future.
“They are two great footballers with different characteristics. They can be compatible playing together and whoever can place them together would have an amazing team.”
