The World Cup winner has ended a one-year stay at Juventus with a record of eight goals and seven assists in 40 games.

Angel Di Maria has left Italian club Juventus after one season to become a free agent.

The Argentinian winger only joined Juve last summer from Paris Saint-Germain. He scored eight goals in 40 games across all tournaments for Juve, but the team did not win any trophies that season.

In a statement on Instagram, Di Maria expressed his regret for not having won anything, although he assured fans that he gave his all to the club.

“I leave with the peace of mind of having given all to help the club to continue winning titles, but it was not possible,” Di Maria posted.

“I leave with the bitter taste of not having achieved that, but also with the happiness of taking with me many friends from a fantastic dressing room of which I was part.”

Juventus finished seventh in Serie A last season after the FIGC’s Federal Court of Appeal deducted them 10 points in May for their past transfer dealings.

Saudi Arabia has reportedly shown interest in Di Maria as well as other players such as Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, all of whom are at the end of their careers.

On Tuesday, Al Ittihad confirmed the signing of Real Madrid captain and Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema.
