Paris Saint Germain winger Angel Di Maria banned for four matches for spitting at Marseille center back Alvaro Gonzalez.

Angel Di Maria of Paris St Germain had been blamed for spitting at the Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez. This was during a brutal skirmish which stopped the gameplay.

The match between Paris and Marseille saw five players go out of the field. These included Layvin Kurzawa, Leandro Paredes, Jordan Amavi, Dario Benedetto, and Neymar Jr. The French Ligue champions ended up losing the game with Florian Thauvin’s only goal.

Argentina forward tested positive for coronavirus before the season began. He was one of the six players who got infected with the virus.

The French Ligue did not validate Di Maria’s ban for spitting on the Marseille defender.

The former Manchester United player returned to the squad right before the league began. The results came out as negative and he could play the league games.

Additionally, Di Maria saved himself from expulsion at the time the event occurred. This was because the video assistant avoided punishing him. He continued to play the full game to Paris St. Germain’s defeat.

On the contrary, PSG’s other accused players did not stay on the field. Neymar, Leandro Paredes, and Layvin Kurzawa left the field with immediate action from the referees.

Neymar told the referee about the racist comment as he left the field. In agony, the Brazilian star later posted on social media. He mentioned his regret for not hitting the Spanish defender Gonzalez in the face.

On the hand, the Marseille centre back denied all the accusations made on him.

Di Maria’s ban begins on September 29. He will not be able to play four matches for the French capital side. While Ligue 1 announced his ban, it also will continue to scrutinize files related to Neymar and Gonzalez on September 30.
