Thomas Tuchel was pleased with his side’s performance as the Blues claimed a 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham on Thursday night.

Thomas Tuchel says Chelsea were deserved winners against Tottenham following a 1-0 victory at the home of their rivals.

The Blues were entirely dominant in the first half and could have easily gone two goals up. A costly mistake from Eric Dier proved to be the deciding point of the game.

The Spurs man brought down Timo Werner in the box and Jorginho scored the resulting penalty in the 24th minute.

Even when Spurs came out after the break, it was Chelsea who looked the more likely to add to their tally.

For Tuchel, the win sees him continue a three-game unbeaten run since he took over at the club. The Blues are also yet to concede a goal in that time.

The German manager said there were plenty of positives to take home from the victory.

“Every experience we make is a step forward if we are open to learn from it,” he said to the club’s website.

“There were moments in the first half where we totally controlled [the game] high up the pitch. Second half we lost a bit of confidence [but] we never lost structure, belief, and intensity to defend. If it’s necessary to suffer, you have to be ready and I’m happy.”

However, Tuchel did mention one area Chelsea need to improve on. The Blues only hit the target twice in the match despite 18 shots and nearly 60 percent possession. The 47-year-old wants his side to be more clinical moving forward.

“[We can have] a bit more killer instinct, [be] more aggressive in the box towards the goal; we had chances where we lack a bit of determination in the box but it’s like this: it’s best if we have something to improve and still win.”

“This was a big win in an away game, I’m very happy. I’m not only happy with tactics, it’s how we played, how we live it. They live it 100 per cent, full power, full intensity. It was deserved and feels great.”
