A triumph against Iceland in an emphatic fashion means Denmark can still make it past the group stages of the Nations League.
It took a stroke of fortune, and rather careless defending by Iceland, saw Denmark go ahead in the match at the 45-minute mark. Hannes Haldorssonm cleared away Simon Kjaer’s header but not far enough as the ball took a deflection from one of his own defenders before bouncing back over the line.
The Danes started the second half right where they left off in the first one as they doubled the lead just a minute in. Christian Eriksen was on target as he broke from his own half before slotting the ball home.
It was Robert Skov who landed the final blow. The Hoffenheim man scored from a superb curling shot on the hour mark to put the game beyond reach for the opposition.
Denmark now sit in the third position in their group, having collected four points from three matches. Iceland hold the rock-bottom position of Nations League Group 2 with no points after three games, having scored only one goal and conceded nine.
