After Jose Mourinho’s explanation as to why he gave Dele Alli a start, the English playmaker responded accordingly against Fulham.

Dele Alli’s journey with Jose Mourinho has been a complete roller coaster from day one at Tottenham Hotspur. We all remember that infamous Amazon video from the documentary where the manager is lecturing the player. Alli’s face was impossible to ignore as he felt the criticism falling on his shoulders. It was evident he needed to change something about his approach to his career and he finally did it.

After today, we can safely assume Jose Mourinho completely recovered Dele Alli for the final part of the current season. Regardless of how the Spurs finish in the Premier League standings, Jose knows he has a more competitive squad with the best Dele Alli on it. All those rumors about him leaving to play under Pochettino at PSG can be forgotten now that he’s back to his best form. There’s no way Tottenham will allow him to leave now that he is the old Dele again.

Dele responds to Mourinho’s trust vs Fulham.

Before the game, Jose spoke to BT Sport about the reason he gave Dele Alli a start against Fulham today: “He’s playing well and he’s working even better since he came back to normal work with the team, he’s working hard, playing minutes and so many matches we have now, we need to do some rotation.] For Dele it’s more than rotation, it’s the feeling of working hard to have opportunities and no pressure on him, the pressure’s on the team, not about Dele as an individual.”

Cut to the game itself and Dele Alli got involved in Tottenham Hotspur’s winning goal against Fulham in a London Derby. Although the goal was credited to Adarabioyo, Alli’s backheel attempt is impossible to ignore. The England international is starting to become the Tottenham player who scores the most beautiful goals in the squad. Mourinho has done it again, he recovered a player who seemed lost.
