Dele Alli has dropped a hint over his future amid his inability to ensure regular first-team football at Tottenham Hotspur.
Not long ago, Dele Alli was figuring as one of the hottest prospects in European football. A permanent fixture in Tottenham’s starting eleven for years, the creative midfielder was seen by many as the next big thing in the Premier League. However, once a whizzkid, the 24-year-old has now become a scapegoat in north London. Unable to fight his way back into Jose Mourinho’s team, Dele seems to be closer to leaving Spurs than ever.
Paris Saint-Germain were one of a few sides interested in offering Alli an escape route from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer. But, PSG’s attempts to complete the Englishman’s transfer fell on Tottenham’s deaf ears at the time. Little did Mourinho know Alli will become nothing more than a bit-part player just months later. It’s enough to say the attacking midfielder has started only one Premier League game for the Londoners this season.
Recent reports have suggested the Ligue 1 giants have reignited their interest in Alli amid speculations Mauricio Pochettino will replace Thomas Tuchel in the dugout. The Argentine has indeed landed at the Parc des Princes after all, prompting his former’s pupil reaction on Instagram.
Alli has poured gasoline on fire after ‘liking’ an Instagram post about Pochettino’s appointment in Paris. The two had enjoyed some magical moments in London and could be looking to evoke those memories in the French capital.
Alli and Poch shared the dressing room for four-and-a-half years at Tottenham, and the prospect of a reunion seems to be appealing to both of them. In the meantime, PSG will undergo a squad overhaul under the new manager, with the likes of Julian Draxler, Pablo Sarabia, and Idrissa Gueye expected to be shown the door.
