The English player’s nightmarish spell in the Turkish club continues with another humiliating incident.
Dele Alli was booed off by Besiktas supporters after his poor performance against third-tier side Sanliurfaspor.
Once called one of the top talents in English football, Dele Alli has seen his career hit unexpected lows in recent seasons.
The former England international left Tottenham to rediscover his spark at Everton at the start of 2022. However, he made only one appearance for the Toffees before moving to Turkish side Besiktas.
The 26-year-old found a solid start to the season at his new club. But he has failed to maintain his form, losing his place in Besiktas’ lineup after a host of poor displays.
Manager Senol Gunes returned Alli to his starting XI for a match against third-tier side Sanliurfaspor. But the former Tottenham player’s display forced him to sub him off in the 29th minute.
Besiktas fans booed their own player when he walked off, highlighting Alli’s unbelievable career decline.
Back in November, Gunes admitted the forward hasn’t been able to live up to expectations.
“I couldn’t affect the players [yet], now I can easily get through to them, but we haven’t got through to Dele Alli yet,” Gunes said.
“Let’s not discuss Dele Alli as a player, but he is below expectations in terms of efficiency.”
Let’s see if Alli’s situation at Besiktas convinces him to look for a new club in the winter transfer window.
