Aston Villa struggled at the back throughout the 2019/20 season and want to reinforce the backline with Kieran Trippier.

John Terry is an assistant at Villa Park and should have ensured they have a solid defense. Aston Villa gave contrary results, registering the worst goals against record in the entire Premier League.

It left Jack Grealish hounding across the pitch. The captain will not be with Villa for long, with Manchester United circling him.

Dean Smith has a lot to contend with and he is starting with options at the back. Daily Mail has reported that Smith wants to bring back Kieran Trippier to familiar shores.

Trippier left Tottenham last night for adventures in La Liga with Atletico Madrid. He finished the campaign are a regular under Diego Simeone after joining for £20 million-plus add-ons.

Atletico splurged on attacking reinforcements in 2019’s summer transfer window. While Joao Felix and co. failed to acclimate, Trippier was a breath of fresh air.

The 29-year-old will add much-needed solidity at the back. His addition at Villa will surely bring down their 67 conceded goals. Tyrone Mings will surely like to have his England teammate alongside him.

Villa will hope that Trippier has overcome his groin injury that limited his appearances at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
