Manchester United have announced that goalkeeper Dean Henderson has signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Henderson has put pen to paper on fresh terms until 2025, with the option of a further year.

The goalkeeper impressed over the past two seasons while on loan at Sheffield United.

Henderson is now expected to battle David de Gea for Man United’s No.1 shirt this term.

After gaining experience elsewhere, the 23-year-old was pleased to be returning to his parent club. His comments truly indicate he is ready to up his game and challenge for a no.1 spot.

Speaking to the club’s website, Henderson said:”The pathway that I have been on for the past five years has been fantastic for my development and the invaluable loan period at Sheffield United has been part of that.”

“The goalkeeping department at United is excellent; there are three top-level goalkeepers who have achieved so much in the game and I look forward to working with the group.”

“I’ll be giving everything to improve every day so that I can play as many games as possible for this great club.”

“Now I am looking forward to joining up with the England squad and then preparing for the season ahead.”

With Henderson back at the club, David de Gea must be at his best to keep his spot in goal.
