The Red Devils are struggling to finalize a deal for the Barcelona star after several rounds of negotiations.

Frenkie de Jong’s agent has reportedly told Barcelona about his client’s intention to stay at Camp Nou.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £56m offer for the Barcelona star. However, the transfer saga has taken a new twist as De Jong is not keen to leave his current club.

According to Mirror, United’s chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough have travelled to Barcelona to seal a transfer for De Jong.

However, the player has reportedly continued to insist on his intention to stay at Barca ahead of the next season. This leaves Barcelona paralyzed in the transfer window as they are desperate to receive his transfer fee.

Mundo Deportivo has claimed De Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, has made it clear to Barca that his client wants to stay at Camp Nou.

De Jong returned to Barcelona’s pre-season training on Monday. The former Ajax star is reportedly eager to continue his key role in Xavi’s squad.

Back in April, the Spaniard labelled De Jong as an ‘unsellable’ player. However, Barcelona’s intention to sign Robert Lewandowski convinced Xavi to approve his departure.

With De Jong’s move nearing collapse, it remains to be seen whether United will push to sign a new midfielder in the remainder of the current transfer window.
