David de Gea is pleased with how Manchester United showed their pedigree in the Premier League and cup competitions.

After a disastrous start to the season, Manchester United were 14 points behind third-place Leicester City. By the end of the season, they have dumped the Foxes out of top-four and ensured Champions League qualification.

In addition to their impressive rally in English top-flight football, the Red Devils also managed to make it to the semi-finals of three cup competitions.

Questions have been raised about their inability to progress ahead but David de Gea is pleased with their showings. The Manchester United custodian reflected on how they caught up with their rivals in the league.

De Gea lamented their ousting from Europa League as well and shared they should have made it to the finals. He believes it is sign of better things to come from them.

“I think we improved already this season,” Mirror quoted De Gea. “We were 14 points behind the third position in the Premier League. We finished third at the end.

“We played very good, I think, in many games. We deserved to be in the Europa League final, if we’re honest.

“But maybe we need a bit of experience, more experience in the team, but we have to score the chances. That was the point for us from the game.

“Let’s keep improving, let’s keep fighting for this club and let’s try to win trophies next season.

“I think we’re playing very good football, attacking football, and we’re all enjoying playing attacking football.

“There have been a lot of games, not a lot of rest, so we have a couple of weeks to rest, properly rest, and then start training again.

“The games go again and we have to be 100 percent focused and ready to play our best football.”
