The Belgian playmaker is in discussions with Man City over extending his stay and is representing himself in the negotiations.
Kevin De Bruyne is often found at the center of most good things for Manchester City – a trend that has been in existence ever since his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2015.
The creative midfielder has already amassed seven assists from just 10 games this season. He now boasts 96 assists in total from 232 appearances, while also contributing 58 goals.
It is understood that the Sky Blues are preparing a new deal for the player who is arguably the most important one in their squad, despite his contract one running until 2023.
Recent reports claimed that the 29-year-old is set for a pay rise after winning the PFA Player of the Year last season.
While confirming the extension talks, De Bruyne insists he is keen on prolonging his stay at the Etihad.
“I am happy in Manchester. I am at a good club. Good owners. Good club. We are chatting a bit, but we are not very far in the negotiations,” he told Dutch language newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
“Now I do it myself. I would like to stay with Man City, so it is not a difficult situation. If I didn’t want to stay, it would take someone to mediate.”
