The Spaniard has opened up about his Arsenal future and relationship with fellow goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
David Raya has expressed his eagerness to make his loan move to Arsenal permanent.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Brentford in August. The Gunners can sign him permanently by paying £27 million at the end of the campaign.
In an interview with The Athletic, Raya conveyed his desire to sign on a permanent deal, saying, “Yes, I would have done it yesterday [if I could].”
Raya has made six appearances for Arsenal since his arrival, keeping four clean sheets and conceding four goals.
His promising start has kept Aaron Ramsdale, the club’s starting keeper of the last few seasons, benched.
“The relationship [with Ramsdale]? It’s very good,” Raya said.
“At the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems.”
He added: “We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down [he does the same].”
Raya is preparing for Saturday’s London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal go into the encounter up in second place in the Premier League, having accumulated 20 points in eight games.
