Matteo Darmian was the hero of the day as Inter battled hard to a narrow 1-0 win over Verona on Sunday afternoon.
With the game looking set for a draw, the defender came off the bench to score a crucial goal for his side. He already has a habit of scoring important goals as all of his three league goals this season have either been equalizers or went on to be winning goals.
The latest goal for Darmian could well be the most important by the Italian, as Inter edge closer to the title. A 13-point lead at the moment means the Nerazzurri need just two more wins to be crowned Serie A champions.
Speaking after the game, the 31-year-old was delighted to have scored the winning goal for his side.
โWe knew it was a difficult game. Itโs difficult to face Verona. They are aggressive and play good football. The result was the only thing that mattered. We picked up three points, and the target is now closer,โ Darmian told Sky Sport Italia.
โWe are feeling well, we train to be ready and live these emotions, we are happy today, the three points were the most important things, today. Itโs a crucial win.

For their next outing, Inter will travel to take on Crotone next Saturday.
