Juventus all-rounder Danilo has admitted he enjoys his new role under Andrea Pirlo and is having no problems adapting to a new position.

Due to his versatility, Danilo has covered multiple roles all over the pitch at both Manchester City and Juventus.

Although primarily a right-back, the Brazilian has also played as a right-winger, a defensive midfielder, and even a left-back.

With Andrea Pirlo’s arrival in the dugout, the utility man has been given an entirely new assignment.

With Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci both struggling with injuries this season, Danilo has been performing as a make-shift centre-back this season.

And he has delivered! The former Real Madrid flop has cemented his place in Pirlo’s three-man backline, and he’s enjoying his new position on the field.

“I played left-back many times, so it doesn’t change much, but I can also move further into the center, and that lets me see more of the ball, to pass it from the back, and that is something I really enjoy,” he said in the build-up to Juventus’ match against Hellas Verona [via Football-Italia].

“That also makes it easier for our forwards if we play it out from the back and construct the moves deep.”

Danilo has not always been a permanent fixture in Turin since joining from Manchester City in 2019 as part of the deal to bring Joao Cancelo to the Etihad.

Last season under Maurizio Sarri, he only registered 16 Serie A starts. But, things have drastically changed since Pirlo took over the managerial reins.

Danilo has not missed a single minute of Juve’s top-flight action this season, adding an assist to his name.

He also starred for the Bianconeri during a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League.
