The three-time Champions League winner has named his top pick for European glory.

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has named Manchester City as his pick to win the 2021/22 Champions League.

The Citizens, coached by Alves’ former Barca boss Pep Guardiola, are in the quarter-finals. Kevin De Bruyne’s goal in the first leg has given them a 1-0 aggregate lead over Atletico Madrid. The two sides will meet for the return fixture in Spain on Wednesday night.

But while the tie remains wide open, Alves has backed City to reach the semi-finals and win the competition itself.

“I think so, and they are my candidates for the title,” the 38-year-old Brazilian told Mundo Deportivo when asked if City will beat Atlético.

“They are the team that has the best concept and the clearest concept of how to play and compete and how to do things. I’m a fan of Pep; whatever he does, I’ll be applauding.”

At the time of writing, Bet365 has Guardiola’s side priced at 1.80 to win the second leg. This implies they have a 56% chance of victory in Madrid.
