The Brazil legend urged Barcelona players to acknowledge the great value of playing for the Catalan club.
Dani Alves became the first Barcelona signing under Xavi Hernandez last week. The Brazilian defender will not be able to play until January, but he has already joined his new teammates.
Alves called on Barcelona players to achieve “great things” together upon returning to the team’s dressing room.
“I have come here to learn from you all, you are now the new players in the world,” Alves said (via Mirror).
“But I am from the old one, and I want to convey one thing: be aware of what this club and this shirt represent.
“I have been abroad and this is the best club where you are able to achieve great things, to live.
“You are here, value it because there is nothing better anywhere else.”
The newly-appointed Xavi faces a challenging test to turn things around at Camp Nou. Barcelona have slipped to ninth place in La Liga with 17 points from their 12 matches.
Xavi has the chance to end the Blaugrana’s run of four winless league games when he makes his Barca managerial debut against Espanyol on Saturday.
