The Brazilian defender has vowed to help the Catalans in their quest to ‘rebuild’ the club.
Barcelona re-signed Dani Alves as a free agent earlier this week. The club legend will start his second spell at the club under his former teammate Xavi Hernandez.
Alves left the Camp Nou in 2016, continuing his career in various clubs in Europe and Brazil. The most decorated footballer of all time will return to where he spent the peak of his career.
What has Alves said?
In a new interview, Alves has spoken about his surprise move back to La Liga.
“I am already here in Barcelona,” Alves said (via Mirror).
“I am with you again and I am very happy to return home.
“I hope to see you soon to be able to enjoy and rebuild the Barca that we love so much.”
In an interview in August, Alves was asked about Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona.
“I’m very sorry for Messi and for Barça, but sometimes in life there are cycles that have to be closed.
“Messi will continue to be Messi and Barca will continue to be Barca, but a little less special.”
When will Alves play for Barcelona?
Alves will not be able to join the Catalans before January. Barcelona are planning to add the player to their ranks as a free agent in the upcoming transfer window.
Alves will possibly make his second Barca debut in their La Liga match against Mallorca on 2 January.
