Wembley was the place where England got a visit from the Czech Republic in the last group stage Euro 2020 match. We got player ratings.

The England National Team had a crucial match today against the Czech Republic at the Euro 2020 inside Group D. Winning would secure them the sector’s top spot and leave the others to duke it out for the second place. Gareth Southgate finally listened to everybody’s pleas and decided to give Jack Grealish a start in the tournament. His wager immediately paid off with the Aston Villa captain’s involvement in the first goal of the match. He ran all the way to the end line and released a precise cross to the heart of the box.

Raheem Sterling was waiting there to connect the ball with a clinical header. Even though they didn’t score more goals in the first half, the Three Lions played the best football we’ve seen from them today. A great deal of this fluidity was thanks to Grealish’s contribution to the game. He constantly cleared the way for the strikers with impressive quality to control long balls from the defenders. The Czech Republic wasn’t able to penetrate England’s defense with much danger, it simply wasn’t their night.

England goes top above Croatia.

The second half was filled with further experiments and substitutions from Gareth Southgate. There wasn’t really a massive improvement and England even got John Stones off with an injury. In the end, they won their group with 7 points after another 1-0 victory with a goal from Sterling at Wembley. Even though four points could give a second spot to the Czech Republic, Croatia’s 3-1 victory over Scotland placed them in third.

Luka Modric’s impressive brace qualified his nation to the Euro 2020’s knock-out stage. With these results, England is not looking too strong for their possible next rival in the tournament. Despite playing great football in the first half, there are still many gaps in their game during second halves.
