Crystal Palace: Hodgson makes honest admission on relegation battle

Palace have claimed only one victory from their last 12 matches across all competitions.

Roy Hodgson has no doubt that Crystal Palace are in a race to stay in the Premier League after their poor run of results in recent weeks.

Palace suffered a humiliating defeat against Arsenal on Saturday as they slipped to 14th spot on the table. Palace’s defensive issues were on full display, with Hodgson’s side conceding five goals at Emirates.

In an interview before the game, the veteran manager said: “There’s no doubt we have to keep looking over our shoulder and we are in a relegation battle, no question about that. I believe the team and club and the group of players we have are more than good enough to get us away from the relegation zone.

“Of course at the start of the season we had hoped we would build on the end of last season.”

Pressure is mounting on Hodgson as Palace struggle to stay above the relegation zone. Following their defeat against Arsenal, the Eagles will face Sheffield United on Tuesday before travelling to Brighton four days later.
