Just as it appeared the Eagles were about to snatch points, the Gunners shot them down with two quickfire goals in injury time.

Roy Hodgson was unable to bid farewell to the Crystal Palace fans on a high note as his last game in charge of the club ended up in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Hodgson, who has decided to step down as Palace boss at the end of the season, though, did get a heartfelt reception from the home supporters at Selhurst Park.

The hosts went behind in the first half when Nicolas Pepe sent a right-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner of the net. Arsenal then allowed the opponents to get back into the game in the second half, with Christian Benteke scoring the equalizer.

It appeared the match would end with a share of the spoils with the scoreline tied after the end of normal time but two quickfire strikes from Gabriel Martinelli and Pepe in stoppage time saw Arsenal walk away with all three points.
