The Red Devils dropped points at Selhurst Park as they failed to leapfrog Man City from Premier League’s second spot.
Crystal Palace held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in their Premier League match on Wednesday. A late equalizer prevented the Red Devils from claiming their sixth league win in a row.
A stunning equalizer!
Man Utd started off as the better side, putting pressure on the hosts’ backline from both flanks.
Palace, on the other hand, spent most of the first period in their own half. But they also had their own moments, forcing David de Gea to make two brilliant saves.
United finally broke the deadlock through Bruno Fernandes in the 43rd minute.
Following a brilliant piece of buildup play, Christian Eriksen’s pass found Fernandes inside the box. The Portuguese midfielder then smashed the ball past Vicente Guaita with a powerful strike.
United successfully lowered the pace of the game at the beginning of the second period, avoiding a quick equalizer from the hosts.
Palace made a few attempts to get back into the game right after the break. But they had to wait until the 91st minute to finally score the equalizer.
Michael Olise scored a wonderful free kick from 25 yards out to make it 1-1 for Palace. The shocking equalizer forced United to go all-in with their attacks in the remaining minutes. But they had no luck in restoring their leads.
