Chelsea have been linked with a host of strikers this summer, but re-signing Lukaku would be a smart move to Crouch.

Peter Crouch reckons Romelu Lukaku ‘has everything you need as a top forward’ and would be a superb addition for Chelsea.

The Inter Milan striker continued his fine form last weekend by scoring twice in Belgium’s Euro 2020 opener to help seal a convincing 3-0 win. He was also on hand on Thursday as the Red Devils defeated Denmark 2-1.

Lukaku’s brilliance comes as a top striker is said to be a big priority for Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel is keen on recruiting more firepower, and Crouch sees no reason the Blues coach shouldn’t consider a familiar face.

“A striker who has started the Euro 2020 well is Romelu Lukaku, who would be a great option for Chelsea this summer,” the ex-Liverpool and Tottenham striker told Paddy Power.

“He’s relentless, his goal record is phenomenal, and he’d be a good fit in well with their pacey front line.

“He’s a different player than when he left Chelsea and Manchester United. He’s at a higher level now – in the conversation for one of the world’s top strikers.

“Watching Lukaku play this year, he’s been consistently dominant, it’s unbelievable, he has everything you need as a top forward.

“He can lead the line on his own, has pace and strength, and his touch and awareness have improved.”

Lukaku previously had a three-year spell as a Chelsea player between 2011 and 2014. The Belgian, though, made just 15 appearances. He spent most of his time on loan at West Brom and Everton before joining the latter permanently.

After a difficult stint at Manchester United, Lukaku has thrived at Inter and recently beat the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo to Serie A’s MVP award.

But a return to Stamford Bridge remains a long shot after the 28-year-old’s representative, Federico Pastorello, claimed his client is ‘happy’ at Inter.
