After making more history in this summer’s European Championship, Cristiano Ronaldo shared a message on social media.
Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked everyone who has helped him after winning the Euro 2020 Golden Boot award.
UEFA confirmed Ronaldo as the winner of the Alipay Top Scorer award on Monday. Patrik Schick may have scored five goals like CR7, but the Portugal captain’s assist against Germany gave him the nod over the Czech Republic star.
Ronaldo has now won a Golden Boot in the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Champions League, and the European Championship.
“Thank you to everyone who helped me reach yet another historic mark!” Ronaldo posted on Instagram.
CR7 a top five performer despite lack of games
In the final standings for UEFA’s FedEx Performance Zone player rankings, Ronaldo finished in a respectable fourth place despite only playing four games.
Euro 2020 finalists Marco Verratti (Italy), Luke Shaw (England), and Harry Maguire (England) finished ahead of Ronaldo.
The Juventus ace scored all five of his goals in Group F against Hungary, Germany, and France. His efforts helped Portugal survive the ‘Group of Death’ to qualify for the knockout stages. A 1-0 defeat to Belgium in the last-16, however, ended their title defense.
