Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on his retirement plans

After being crowned Player of the Century on Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo opened up a little on his plans for the future.

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he has no immediate plans to retire and will continue for at least ‘the next two or three years’.

For a man in his mid-thirties, Ronaldo is doing unbelievably well for Juventus and Portugal. He still outperforms his peers, including those 10 or more years his junior. So why shouldn’t he play into his forties?

16 goals in only 14 games across all competitions for Juventus this season proves that age hasn’t slowed the Portuguese great down.

“I will be 36 [on February 5] and day in and day out, I have always done what I have been doing for the past few years,” said Ronaldo to a select audience as quoted by Gulf News at the Globe Soccer Awards on Sunday.

“I don’t plan to stop anytime soon, not in the next two or three years. All this involves a lot of sacrifices and pain, but in the end it is all worth it.”
