The three-time Premier League winner revealed which team he would like to see win the league if Manchester United cannot.

Cristiano Ronaldo would like to see Arsenal win the Premier League this season.

Going into the World Cup break, Arsenal sit five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the league table. Manchester United are 11 points back in fifth place after 14 games this season. So as things currently stand, the Gunners are on course for a first league title since 2003/04 – the very same season Ronaldo made his United debut.

“I hope so,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan, a renowned Arsenal fan, on TalkTV when asked if he would like to see Mikel Arteta’s side clinch the title.

He quickly added: “Manchester first, and if not, Arsenal is some team that I like to see play.

“I like the team, I like the coach. I think they have a good team. And if Manchester United don’t win the Premier League, I will be happy if Arsenal do.”

The Premier League, of course, is on hold until Boxing Day, while the 2022 FIFA World Cup goes on in Qatar.

Ronaldo will lead Portugal out for their Group H opener against Ghana next Thursday.
