The Portugal captain was honored with a special award for becoming the world’s leading international goalscorer last year.
Cristiano Ronaldo has no plans to retire from representing Portugal after this year’s World Cup.
The 37-year-old attacker insisted the ‘road is not over yet’ for him and that he aims to compete in the Euro 2024 tournament during a gala on Tuesday, which the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) hosted.
At the ceremony, Ronaldo was presented with an award for overtaking former Iran striker Ali Daei as the record international goalscorer in men’s football last September.
“I am proud to receive an award of this magnitude,” the Portugal captain said.
“I never thought that one day I could achieve it and I thank everyone who was important in my career. It has been a long road, but I would like to say that my road is not over yet. [You’re going to have to] take a little more load from Cris [Ronaldo.]”

Ronaldo targets Euro 2024
“I hope to be part of the Federation for a few more years,” Ronaldo added.
“I still feel motivated. My ambition is high. I’m in a team with young people. I want to be part of this World Cup and the European too; I’m going to assume that right away.”
Since debuting for Portugal in 2003, Ronaldo has supplied 117 goals and 42 assists in 189 games. He captained the national team to European glory in 2016 and the Nations League title in 2019.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is in Portugal’s latest squad for the current international break.
Fernando Santos’ side have two Nations League games this month against the Czech Republic and Spain in Group A2. They’ll take on the former first this Saturday.
