The teenager moved to Man Utd’s academy ranks after his famous father’s return to the club last year.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has revealed his grandson wants to live in Lisbon and play for Sporting.

Ronaldo started his senior career at the Portuguese side before rising to stardom at Manchester United

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made a sensational return to Old Trafford last year. But his mother is keen to see him return to Sporting alongside his son before hanging his boots.

Speaking about his 12-year-old grandson, Dolores Aveiro told Portuguese magazine Nova Gente: “At his age, he plays better than his father! Cristiano’s successor is Cristianinho.

“[Cristianinho] has already said he wants to live in Lisbon and play for Sporting.

“If they both go, it would be my dream. If the wishes of a mother and a grandmother are granted, one of her children will join Sporting very soon.”

Ronaldo has ten months remaining on his current Man Utd deal. Following a summer full of transfer speculations, the 37-year-old remained at Old Trafford. However, he is expected to decide on his next club after the World Cup.

“A return to Sporting can happen, but not now. It wasn’t the year for that, but next year it could be,” Ronaldo’s mother added.

“This year or the next year, it will happen, God willing! I have already explained to him: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you again in the Sporting jersey’.”
